This one's for you, Jillian...

Gooooooood Morning! It's almost the weekend, so put a smile on that face of yours!

Today, I am asking everyone to send their thoughts, love, and prayers to this ray of sunshine, Jillian Loiselle Mangold.
My beautiful cousin started her prophylactic bilateral mastectomy around 9:30 (East Coast) this morning! She is one of the amazing women in my family that has given me the strength to do what I am doing this time next Thursday! Cuzzo, I am so proud of you for your decision to be so strong and fight back! Love you to the moon and back and glad we are on this journey together!

I still cannot even begin to explain the feelings that I get from the support due to this blog. I thought in writing this that maybe, just MAYBE 500 people would read it throughout my 4 month long journey. Today is day 5, I am close to 5,000 readers and The Orlando Sentinel, the largest newspaper in Central Florida, has my blog on the front page of their website. I'm sorry, what?! My goal was and always will be to get the message out their to get tested from the BRCA gene mutation. In this 5 day period, I have had over 20 people reach out to me, to say they are getting tested! You are all so strong and awesome!

Cough, Cough... Still waiting on at least one guy out there to tell me they're getting tested. Youuu cannnn doooo ittttt

Last night, I received the most heart-warming message on Facebook from a friend of mine, so I thought i'd share! She started out by explaining that she has a history of both breast and ovarian cancer in her family and that her sister had tested positive for the BRCA gene mutation a while back. She continued on saying her mom has been on her for some time now to get tested but she has been putting it off because she is scared. Then came the water works. As I continued reading, she explained that reading my blog and my positive outlook on all of this has given her the courage to call first thing this morning and set up her appointment to get tested. I cannot even write this without crying. haha You know that feeling where you are so genuinely touched that it feels like your heart can explode? Good, now we're on the same page.  So proud of you, girl!

In other news, today starts my preparation for surgery next Thursday! By 'start my preparation' I mean that I can't take fish oil, multivitamins, or Vitamin E for the next 7 days. That's random, why? Well, that's what I am wondering too so I am waiting for my doctor to call back and explain!

Other prep stuff I have to do: Tomorrow I meet with Dr.P (my plastic surgeon) for my pre-op appointment. What does that mean? I'll let you know tomorrow, because I have no idea! haha. Then on Tuesday I have my pre-admission testing, through Florida Hospital, which again I have no idea what that entails. Y'all will find out right after I do.

On Thursday, although my surgery starts at 12:30 pm, the fun begins at midnight. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight, not even if i'm PARCHED. And if you know me, I drink water like a fish so I will be on the struggle bus with that part for sure! I check into Florida hospital at 8:30 am and at 10:30 am I get a sentinel node injection. I have no idea what the 'injection' is exactly. Then under the knife at 12:30!

If I am not feeling up to blogging, which I most likely will be in la-la land, I will have one of my fabulous friends help me out! I sure I will have plenty of funny and ridiculous things to say. Don't forget, if I feel like poop, you're going to know about it!

Today's song of the day is another dance around the room type jam. I have the best memories in Chapel Hill jamming out to this with my best friends, along with 4th of July memories with family and friends having the time of our lives listening to it on repeat!

(still a picture.. one day y'all, one day)
Make sure to listen and download MTKO- Classic! Hope you have an epic dance party to this like me and my friends do!

Happy Thursday, ladies and gents <3
